Dana Davis, Lecturer in the School of Nursing, has been named Troy University Montgomery Campus’ Teacher of the Year.

The award, presented annually by the campus’ chapter of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, recognizes outstanding classroom instruction and is nominated by students.

Davis received the award during the Montgomery Campus’ spring commencement ceremony on May 21.

“This year’s recipient was identified for her strong faith, her patience, for treating the students as adults and her initiative in ensuring that the students grasp the subject material,” said Gamma Beta Phi President Antoinette Pagniacci in announcing Davis as the recipient. “She serves as an exceptional example of a nurse and a teacher.”

Davis is a two-time TROY graduate, earning her bachelor’s in nursing in 1989 and her master’s in nursing in 2006. She is a Registered Nurse, and her clinical focus is adult nursing.

“Being selected for the Teacher of the Year award is an incredible honor,” Davis said. “What makes it even more meaningful is knowing that the students I teach were the ones who nominated and selected me. I truly love teaching and helping students succeed, so being recognized by them means more to me than words can express.”
