Recent TROY graduate Kimberly Peacock overcame a family tragedy on they way to achieving her goal of a master's degree.

Kimberly Peacock of Pine Mountain, Ga., endured something no parent ever wants to go through.  During Peacock’s second semester as a graduate nursing student at TROY, her 20-year-old son passed away.

The devastating loss nearly made Peacock withdraw from the program.  However, with the help of family and her professors at the Phenix City Campus, she decided to continue on.

“I didn’t want to keep going, but I said that I was going to find the good in this and keep going, because I know there’s good for me to do in the world and help change other people’s lives,” Peacock said.

On Friday, June 2 Kimberly walked across the stage to receive her Master of Science in Nursing degree, and may continue at TROY to pursue her doctorate.
