Dr. Ben P. Robertson receives Troy University’s Malone Award

Dr. Ben Robertson, professor of English, (left) received Troy University's Wallace D. Malone, Jr., Distinguished Faculty Award on Friday from Dr. Earl Ingram, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. Presented during the University's annual Faculty/Staff Convocation, the award consists of a $1,000 cash prize, a medallion to be worn with academic regalia and the honor of carrying the University's Academic Mace at official ceremonies throughout the academic year. The award is made possible through a $100,000 endowment by the SouthTrust Corporation.

Troy University professor using games to teach history

 

Troy University students will have a chance this fall to learn about history in a rather unconventional manner: by playing games.

Dr. Scout Blum, a professor in the University’s Department of History and Philosophy, will teach History Through Games, a hands-on interactive course that marries popular board, roleplaying and video games with a history curriculum.
