Troy University’s Dr. Dave Camwell has released a new album under his musical partnership, Covert Ensemble.
Camwell, who began teaching at TROY in 2017, met his musical partner Czech saxophonist Katerina Pavlikova online during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Together they record music videos and post them onto social media.
“We try to provide as much interest and captivating content to keep people engaged,” Camwell said.
The duo recently traveled to Prague to record their newest album which features the music of three dances written by Czech composer Bedrich Smetana’s for his comic opera “The Bartered Bride.” Pianist Martin Hybler also appears on the album.
“The music was arranged by Katerina and it’s been very successful on our tours,” Camwell said. “It’s very accessible, fun music that has been great to play live.”
Covert Ensemble will take their music on the road this fall with tour dates planned in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Hui-Ting Yang, Director of the John M. Long Shool of Music, will join as the tour pianist.
