Zhanna Zhuravleva, Assistant Director for Academic Support, has won Troy University’s Vergil Parks McKinley Award.

Zhuravleva received the award from Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, during the quarterly awards ceremony at the Troy Campus on Wednesday. She was nominated by Dr. Lee Vardaman, former Associate Provost for Academic Support who retired this spring.

The McKinley Award is the highest honor that Troy University gives to a non-faculty staff member. It is presented quarterly to an employee who has demonstrated outstanding attitude, innovation and work ethic. The award was established by the late John McKinley, former Texaco CEO, in honor of his father, Vergil Parks McKinley, who was a Troy University professor during the early 20th century and was key to the development of the University’s athletic program. Winners of this award receive an engraved clock and a $1,000 stipend.

“Zhanna has served the University since 2001 in multiple roles. In each position, she has performed at a high level and ensured accuracy of critical functions,” Vardaman said in his letter of nomination. “Currently, she oversees the faculty certification process, coordinates technology for Patterson Hall, and serves as a primary coordinator for graduation ceremonies on the Troy Campus along with multiple other duties. Her attention to detail has directly contributed to successful SACS-COC reaffirmations as well as smooth operations in her areas of influence.”

Zhuravleva said she was honored to receive the award and took the opportunity to thank those who have been supportive of her during her time at TROY.

“I want to thank my former supervisor Dr. Lee Vardaman for this nomination. I also want to say a special thank you to my mom who raised me to always do everything to the highest level of integrity. I also am thankful to Dr. Lester Stewart, who is responsible for me coming to Troy 27 years ago. And I’m thankful for my friends and co-workers who are supportive and always have my back.”
