At just 26 years old, Kameisha Logan is following her passion and opening a law firm in her hometown of Selma.

Logan, who received a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University in 2016, felt a calling to give back to her hometown community rather than pursue a law practice in a bigger city.

Former SOTS Drum Major Dr. Robert Lawrence died July 29. He was the Sound's first African American drum major in 1979.

Former SOTS Drum Major Dr. Robert Lawrence died July 29. He was the Sound's first African American drum major in 1979.

Dr. Robert Lawrence, a native of Lanett, was the first African American elected to serve as Drum Major of the “Sound of the South” band in 1979.  

The band that year was one of the largest in University history; in fact, a portrait of that special year is still displayed in Long Hall.
