Troy University and the American Village are accepting applications from rising juniors and seniors who want to learn more about leadership, civics and U.S. history at this summer’s Trojan Patriot Academy.

Set for June 8-13, 2025, the camp teaches students leadership practices and ideals through the lens of the Founding Fathers. Participants will spend the first two days at the beautiful Troy University campus in Troy, learning about leadership principles, followed by a trip to Montgomery to meet state leaders, tour the statehouse, and learn about Civil Rights during a stop at the Rosa Parks Museum. The camp will end with a stay at the American Village in Montevallo, where students will take part in an immersive educational experience, getting a first-hand look at the leadership principles that shaped America’s founding.

This unique experience will allow students to connect with other young leaders from around the state and grow as citizens ready to make a positive impact.

“We are thrilled for this coming summer’s Trojan Patriot Academy,” said Dr. Jeff Scott, Executive Director of Academic Operations for the College of Education at TROY. “It is our mission to make this Academy for high school students in Alabama the premier experience to enhance civic learning and leadership through the lens of American history. Through this dynamic week-long experience on the campus of Troy and the grounds of the American Village, students will develop their understanding of founding principles, personal leadership, and develop a better understanding of how to enhance our society for everyone to feel connected.”

The camp will accept up to two students per high school in Alabama and participants must have a nomination from their principal or superintendent. For more information or to apply, visit www.trojanpatriotacademy.com

“The Trojan Patriot Academy is a big element of the robust partnership between Troy University and the American Village,” Scott said. “It is our goal for this partnership, Experiencing America, to provide experiences for students, educators, community members, and our state that will strengthen our American foundation in which all citizens can build their lives upon.”
