A group of 33 Alpha Tau Omega members departed Troy University early Friday morning for Walk Hard, a six-day walk to Panama City Beach, Florida, to raise money for wounded veterans.

The annual fundraiser raises money for Jeep Sullivan’s Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures, a nonprofit offering wounded veterans and their families opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

33 brothers of Alpha Tau Omega Walk Hard are set to start their 128-mile walk from the quad on the TROY campus to Panama City Beach. The walk raises money for Jeep Sullivan's Outdoor Adventures, Inc.

The annual event, which began in 2009, has become a national model for the fraternity, and ATO chapters across the nation now carry out similar Walk Hard events.

Last year’s Walk Hard raised more than $40,000, and the group hopes for even more this year. Patrons can donate to the group’s crowd funding page.

The group is set to arrive in Panama City on March 14 with a 4 p.m. greeting ceremony at Pier Park.
