The Sorrell College of Business will host its first International Trade Show in the atrium of Bibb Graves Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.

Students in Dr. Clint Relyea’s Managing in a Global Business Environment class will be acting as economic development officers representing nine countries including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, China, Finland, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.

Students will compete by trying to have the most comprehensive booth in the trade show that entices people to travel and do business in the country they represent.

Students have spent the semester researching economic and cultural issues in their countries. They have been in touch with the ambassador to the U.S. from each the countries and have various artifacts and products they will have on display.

Some of the booths will have food and music to share as well as brochures to entice the community to visit their countries.

The judges for the show are representatives from the Alabama Department of Commerce with expertise in international trade. The group that wins first place in the judging will be awarded a $100 gift certificate to B. Graves on the Square in Troy.

The event is free and open to the public.
