A new chapter in Troy University’s legacy of excellence began Tuesday afternoon as university officials, alumni, and community members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Jones Hall with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Dr. LaGary Carter, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, welcomed attendees to Jones Hall, the new state-of-the-art facility, and introduced a lineup of distinguished speakers.
Jones Hall is designed to serve as a hub for academic innovation and student engagement. Equipped with modern classrooms, collaborative spaces, and cutting-edge technology, the building reflects Troy University’s ongoing commitment to student success and community involvement.
Jones Hall is named in honor of Billy Jones, a Troy University alumnus and president of Crowne Management, LLC. Under his leadership, the company oversees 17 nursing homes across Alabama, as well as assisted living and therapy centers, home healthcare services, and hospice care.

Judge Jack Weaver described Jones as sincerely amazing. “His life’s work is Crowne Healthcare, but the greatest attribute of Billy is a man who loves,” Weaver said.
Jones demonstrated his strong commitment to the future of healthcare education with a generous $2 million gift to Troy University. His contribution will leave a lasting legacy by expanding academic programs and enhancing learning opportunities for students pursuing careers in the health sciences.
After Chancellor Jack Hawkins Jr. spoke about his friendship with Jones, he introduced former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Sue Bell Cobb.

Cobb told the crowd about the extraordinary determination of Frances Jones, wife of Billy Jones, in child advocacy and helping establish the Kings Kids Foundation, which provides educational resources to children in Monroe County, Al.

“It is a beautiful building and I am honored for it to be named ‘Jones Hall,’ probably one of the biggest honors of my life,” Jones said.
Following the ceremony, student volunteers led tours of the facility, giving guests an inside look at the building’s features and future impact. Guests explored newly designed classrooms and interactive learning environments intended to enhance both teaching and student collaboration.
Jones Hall stands not only as a testament to progress but also as a tribute to Billy Jones, whose name will now be etched into the university’s physical and cultural landscape for generations to come.
