The Honorable Chad W. Bryan, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, will be the guest lecturer for the 2025 Constitution Day event on Sept. 18, presented by the Troy University Pre-Law Society with support from the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
The event is set for 2 p.m. in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the Troy Campus. TROY’s vocal jazz ensemble, frequency, will perform The National Anthem and officers of the Pre-Law Society will lead the event. Following the lecturer, the winner of the campuswide Constitution Day essay contest will be announced.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day commemorates the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the United States Constitution by the 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention.
Judge Bryan, a native of Brantley, was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Alabama on July 14, 2022.
Before appointment to the bench, Judge Bryan spent his legal career as a civil litigation attorney and shareholder at the law firm of Capell & Howard P.C. in Montgomery, where he represented clients at both the trial and appellate levels. During his 19 years in private practice, Judge Bryan was named a Mid-South Super Lawyers “Rising Star” — a designation afforded to only 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state of Alabama who are under 40 years of age — and was recognized for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.
Judge Bryan received an undergraduate degree in history and English from the University of Alabama, summa cum laude, and a Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law. He also is a graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum and a participant in the Alabama Leadership Initiative.
Recognizing the value of community service, Judge Bryan is an active member and past president of the Montgomery Lions Club and served on the Judicial Advisory Committee for the Middle District of Alabama.
