Troy University has been recognized as Alabama’s “Best Online College” and among the top online colleges nationally in Niche’s 2025 Best Colleges rankings.

Nationally, TROY ranked as the 20th Best Online College in America.

Offering its first online course in 1997, Troy University has long been considered a pioneer in online higher education. TROY has awarded more than 27,000 degrees online and offers some 132-degree options completely online in five, nine-week terms.

Niche also recognized TROY in a number of different categories. The University’s academic programs in Criminal Justice and Public Policy both rated in the top 15 percent of colleges nationally, while Niche ranked TROY in the top 20 percent nationally in its “Best Colleges for Nursing” rankings.

TROY also was ranked 100th for “Best College Athletics,” placing in the top 8 percent nationally, as well as being recognized in the top 10 percent of colleges nationally in the categories of “Best Student Life,” “Best College Dorms,” “Best College Campuses” and “Best College Food.”
