Songwriter, producer and former Spin Doctors lead guitarist Anthony Krizan is the special guest artist at Troy University’s MIC Check Invitational April 4 and 5.
Presented by the TROY Music Industry Program, MIC Check is an annual music and entertainment industry experience for high school and college students.
This year’s event takes place at the Trojan Center Theater and features Krizan performing live and interacting with TROY students as well as dozens of high school students from throughout the region.
“We’ve got five high schools and one community college group attending,” said Music Industry Coordinator Robert W. Smith. “This year, we have 11 additional high school students from as far away as Birmingham who went through a video audition process to be part of an artists’ showcase. Every band and artist, they will get a chance to perform in front of our faculty and in front of Anthony Krizan, who will give them direct feedback.”
Before MIC Check, Krizan will interact with TROY students Wednesday, April 3, working with POPulus, the University’s pop music ensemble, as well as guitarists in the John M. Long School of Music.
MIC Check also features live performances from POPulus, the Jazz Ensemble and Frequency, the University’s vocal jazz ensemble.
Performances open to the public include:
Thursday, April 4: Frequency will perform on the main stage from 1:15-2 p.m. The Jazz Ensemble will perform with special guest Anthony Krizan from 8-9 p.m.
Friday, April 5: POPulus featuring Anthony Krizan will perform from 4-5 p.m.
In addition to his work with the Spin Doctors, Krizan has written songs for and with Lenny Kravitz, John Waite and Gretchen Wilson.
