Student organization leaders in Troy University’s College of Science and Engineering organized and hosted a club interest meeting for new and returning students to learn about ways to get involved on campus.
Organized by Alpha Epsilon Delta Co-Presidents Anna-Marie Fulton and Sara Solz, both senior biomedical sciences majors, the interest meeting allowed students to hear from different clubs and organizations that are represented in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences
“It’s very important for students to be able to give back to local communities, meet people that are going through the same things as them, build connections with people that are going into the same field,” Solz said.
As the pair approach graduation, Fulton reflected on the benefits she and Solz received from being involved in a club related to their field of study.
“We’re getting ready to graduate, so we’ve been able to really see the benefits of getting involved, and I think something like this allows students to see them all at once,” Fulton said. “A lot of times you’ll hear about a club or something you’re interested in, but it’s easy to get caught up and distracted and not follow through with finding out more information, so it’s been good to give them exposure and choices.”
The clubs represented included AED, TriBeta Mu Epsilon Chapter, Pre-Vet Club, Pre-Dental Society, American Medical Student Association, Chemistry Club, Physics Club, Women in STEM, Marine Biology and the Naturalist Club.
