In an era where storytelling meets education, The Rounds: A Troy University Nursing Podcast is carving out a space that blends personal journeys, professional insights, and open conversation.

Hosted by Kait Nesbitt and Brooke Moseley, this podcast doesn’t just dive into the world of nursing—it brings listeners along for the ride, whether they’re seasoned professionals or curious outsiders.

Each episode of The Rounds features candid conversations with nurses, healthcare leaders, and Troy University alumni as they recount the pivotal moments that shaped their careers. But what sets this podcast apart is the balance between the two hosts: Brooke Moseley, a current TROY nursing student, and Kait Nesbitt, who openly admits she has no experience in healthcare, but plenty of questions.

Kait Nesbitt, Communications Coordinator of College of Health Sciences

“I think of myself as the audience member,” Nesbitt explained. “I don’t come from a nursing or medical background, so my role is really to ask the questions that someone on the outside looking in might be wondering. Why did they become a nurse? What was their hardest day? How do they handle it emotionally? That sort of thing.”

Moseley, meanwhile, brings the perspective of someone in the trenches of nursing school—learning the ropes, juggling clinicals, and preparing to enter a field known for its challenges and deep rewards.

“Nursing school is intense, and hearing these stories from experienced nurses makes it all feel more real—but also more inspiring,” Moseley said. “There’s so much more to nursing than just passing tests or memorizing anatomy. These conversations are teaching me about compassion, resilience, and leadership.”

The title The Rounds is a clever nod to the daily practice of hospital rounds, where nurses and doctors discuss patient care. But in this podcast, the rounds take on a new form—traveling through different nursing specialties and the stories and wisdom passed down from professionals who’ve seen it all, from ER chaos to community nursing, and everything in between.

Dr. Jeffery Forehand, Director of the School of Nursing at Troy University, sees The Rounds as more than just a podcast—she sees it as a tool for community building and education.

“Storytelling is such a powerful way to connect,” Forehand said. “What this podcast is doing is giving voice to the experience of nursing. It is creating a space where our alumni, students, and faculty can come together in conversation. And that’s invaluable for building empathy, especially in such a people-centered profession.”

Both Nesbitt and Moseley are surprised by how much they’ve learned from the podcast—about nursing, yes, but also about communication, empathy, and the power of listening.

“Every episode makes me a better student, and probably a better future nurse,” Moseley said. “It gives me a sense of what kind of nurse I want to be.”

Nesbitt adds, “Even though I’m not pursuing nursing myself, I’ve gained such a deep appreciation for the field. These people are incredible. I feel honored to help share their stories.”

The Rounds is more than a podcast—it’s a conversation, a classroom, and a community. With each new episode, it continues to shine a light on the people behind the scrubs, giving listeners a front-row seat to the triumphs, challenges, and humanity of nursing.
