TimelyCare is now available to all full-time Troy Campus students.

Troy Campus students now have expanded mental health care available to them around the clock.

TROY is offering students expanded access to mental health support and basic needs assistance through a partnership with TimelyCare, the most trusted provider of virtual health and well-being resources in higher education.

“We are encouraged by being able to offer our students immediate access to mental health support, whether it be crisis counseling, medication or psychiatry support, or general emotional support,” said Dean of Students Herbert Reeves. “At TROY, our students and their well-being come first.”

Students will have access to the following TimelyCare services – at no cost and without the barrier of traditional insurance:

  • On-demand mental health and emotional support (TalkNow)
    • Appointment-based mental health counseling (up to 9 sessions each academic year)
    • Psychiatric support
    • Health coaching
    • Basic Needs assistance
    • Care navigation
    • Peer support community
    • Digital self-care content

The University’s Student Counseling Center will continue to operate, seeing student clients on an appointment-only basis.

Nationally, mental health is the number one reason students drop out of college, and according to a TimelyCare survey, 64 percent say they are more likely to graduate if they have access to mental health resources. Three-quarters of college students who accessed virtual mental health and well-being interventions through TimelyCare reported mental health improvement, including 100 percent of students who presented as a potential suicide risk. Half of the mental health care visits through the portal occur after regular business hours or on the weekends, underscoring the need for 24/7 support.

“Mental health is a rising concern for students, and we jumped at the opportunity to offer even more comprehensive support. We know that TimelyCare, in collaboration with continued in-person counseling and support at our Student Counseling Center, will further empower our students’ wellness, giving them freedom to fully embrace both personal and academic fulfillment,” said Grace Wagstaff, TROY’s Title IX coordinator who led the effort to bring TimelyCare to the University.

Founded in 2017, TimelyCare now serves 2.3+ million students, educators and staff at more than 350 campuses nationwide. Its comprehensive suite of services – including mental health counseling, on-demand emotional support, medical care, psychiatric care, health coaching, student success coaching, basic needs assistance, faculty and staff guidance, peer support and self-guided wellness tools – expands the breadth of school resources and empowers students, educators, and staff to be well and thrive in all aspects of their lives.

“Mental health professionals working on college and university campuses should be applauded for their incredible work each day to support students and save lives,” said Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare. “As demand for mental health support continues to increase, a team-based approach to care can ensure students stay healthy and more likely to achieve their goals. It’s one way TimelyCare partners with campus professionals to improve student health and well-being and fuel student success.”
