More students are studying this fall at Troy University both online and at the Troy Campus.

TROY’s net enrollment stands at 14,537 this fall. Enrollment at the Troy Campus is up more than 2.5 percent from last year, with 5,924 on campus compared to 5,772 last fall. Online enrollment has seen a smaller uptick, at 5,954 from 5,925 last year.

Combined, online and Troy Campus enrollments are up about 1.5 percent from this time last year and are at their highest level in the past three years.

“We are pleased to see positive signs of enrollment growth happening at TROY, an indication that we are beginning to recover from the challenges of the post-COVID era,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “I commend the efforts of all our recruiters throughout the nation to build and nurture relationships with students and their families while promoting TROY as a place where faith, patriotism, leadership and relationships matter. While we are pleased that more students are choosing Troy University, there is still work to do to overcome the challenges of a competitive enrollment market.”

This fall’s growth is being driven in part by an increase in new students. New starts are up over 3 percent this fall, a sign that TROY is bucking a national trend in declining freshmen numbers. According to the latest data from the National Student Clearing House, enrollment of first-year students at public institutions fell by more than 8 percent nationally.

“In a competitive environment for new students, we are thrilled that freshmen continue to choose TROY for our nationally recognized academic programs,” said Sohail Agboatwala, Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Administration.

This fall, TROY was ranked 45th among all regional universities in the South and 19th among public regional universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report and was named among the best colleges and universities in the southern United States by The Princeton Review for the 20th straight year.

TROY’s online programs were ranked 20th in the nation by Niche, and the online graphic design program was ranked first in the nation by Forbes. The Sorrell College of Business has been singled out by Fortune Recommends as one of the top 100 full-time Master of Business Administration degree programs in the nation.

TROY’s academic programs have a proven track record of getting students career ready. In 2024, education and nursing graduates both scored 100 percent first-time pass rates on their professional license/certification exams.

Across the institution, TROY saw growth in several other sectors. Nursing students are up 7 percent year over year. International students at the Troy Campus are also trending up, rising 27 percent this fall to 617 compared to 483 last year.

Students at TROY’s overseas partner locations are up more than 7 percent. TROY is serving more students on the ground in Vietnam than ever before, Agboatwala said.

“As we continue to serve more international students at the Troy Campus, we are also building partnerships that allow us to bring TROY’s world-class academic programs to students around the world,” Agboatwala said.
