Eight Troy University design student projects were named winners in the 46th annual Telly Awards, which honor excellence in video and television across all screens and are judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks and production companies.
Last year, Chris Stagl, Assistant Chair for the department of Art and Design, submitted a music video by Studio 207, a team of five recent design graduates, and the group won a silver ADDY for their video, Tonight You Are Mine. This year, following that success, Stagl submitted three short film trailers, three title sequences, two music videos and a commercial, all student work produced within the past 12 months.
“Once again, we are blown away with our student’s success in this national competition,” Stagl said. “I could not be prouder of these students and all they have accomplished.”
Connor Evans, a graphic design alumnus from Montgomery, Alabama, came away with two silver and one bronze Telly.
“This is insane that we, here at TROY, are competing and winning on a national scale for
these video projects,” Evans said. “I want to thank Professor Stagl for infusing video into our curriculum because I feel like without that opportunity none of us would be being recognized right now.”
Nathan Hobbs, another graphic design alumnus from Black, Alabama, won a bronze Telly and is excited to see his work recognized nationally against other, much bigger, schools.
“Even after recently transitioning into the industry I still get excited when I think about what we were all able to accomplish at Troy,” he said.
