Troy University has been recognized among the best regional universities in the South, by U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges rankings.
TROY ranked 45th among all regional universities in the South and 21st among public regional universities in the South. The University also ranked 22nd in Best Colleges for Veterans and 43rd among Best Value School – Regional Universities South.
The rankings, which were released this week, consider several factors of academic quality, including graduation and retention rates, social mobility, graduation rate performance, undergraduate academic reputation, student-faculty ratio, and faculty resources, among others.
The latest rankings, now in their 41st year, assessed nearly 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities to assist parents and students in the college selection process.

The U.S. News & World Report recognition is the most recent ranking to include TROY. Other recent rankings received by the University include: The Princeton Review’s “Best of the Southeast” for the 21st consecutive year, Niche.com’s “Best Online Colleges in America” and G.I. Jobs magazine’s Military Friendly Schools.
