Troy University will commemorate National Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month by offering an application fee waiver throughout November for all service families.
The offer is valid for all military members, veterans and their families. Use promo code MIL2025 when applying. To apply or for additional information, visit troy.edu/military-veterans.
Veterans & Military Families Month was established in 1996 by the Armed Services YMCA, with the U.S. Government recognizing the occasion every year since. Each November, the President signs a proclamation declaring November National Veterans & Military Families Month, and with hundreds of thousands of service members deployed overseas, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by active duty, Guard, and Reserve military families has never been more important.
“Military Appreciation Month is a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who serve,” said Scot Brumbeloe, TROY’s Director of Military and Veterans Affairs. “At Troy University, honoring the military isn’t limited to a single month—it’s woven into who we are. Our commitment to serving those who serve as well as to veterans and their families is well reflected in our staff, scholarships, education opportunities and traditions.”
Troy University’s service to the military spans more than 75 years. Most recently, the University demonstrated its commitment to serving the military by stepping up when federal funding for Military Tuition Assistance was impacted by the government shutdown to ensure service members could continue their education without interruption through a TA scholarship for eligible service members.
With all previously approved Military Tuition Assistance for Term 2, 2025 being cancelled by the service branches, TROY has offered a scholarship in the amount typically paid through Military Tuition Assistance for any actively serving member who has applied for Tuition Assistance or those receiving civilian military tuition assistance.
“As a Marine, I learned you never leave anyone behind on the battlefield,” said TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. in announcing the scholarship. “This is a time of uncertainty, but Troy University won’t let our military students face this challenge alone. We will proudly provide a scholarship equal to tuition assistance so that our service members’ educational goals are not disrupted.”
Under Dr. Hawkins’ leadership, the University’s commitment to the military has grown through initiatives such as the TROY for Troops Center, which grew out a program created by TROY First Lady Mrs. Janice Hawkins, and the Military and Family Scholarship for active-duty military or reserves and their spouses or dependent children. The University also announced the establishment of a 10 percent tuition scholarship to all veterans and their families.
TROY is consistently recognized for its service to active-duty military and veterans by publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Military Times and G.I. Jobs magazine, among others. Each fall, the University selects one home football game as its Military Appreciation Game, paying tribute to military and veterans in various ways throughout the game. This year’s Military Appreciation Game is set for Nov. 22 when the Trojans welcome Sun Belt Conference-foe Georgia State to Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 3 p.m.
