During a time when many high school juniors and seniors are making their college choices or solidifying their future plans, the COVID-19 coronavirus has canceled many in-person college tours or even, in some cases, shut down campuses. However, the Troy University Office of Admissions is ensuring that prospective students can still get a glimpse of the college experience by making campus tours, enrollment information and other resources available with just the click of a mouse.

Admissions held its annual Spring Trojan Day online last Saturday, including a virtual campus tour, and is utilizing technology to make campus tours and other resources available at a distance to prospective students and their parents.

“This is an important time in the lives of high school students as they are planning and preparing for the next steps in their lives,” said Buddy Starling, Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management. “Troy University is committed to continuing to share the TROY experience with our prospective students and answer any questions they may have by utilizing the University’s web resources.”

Admissions Counselor Birdie Norris takes prospective students on a virtual tour of the Troy Campus.

The University’s Virtual Tour page includes a campus tour video narrated by Admissions Counselor Birdie Norris, a drone video tour, two campus life videos featuring students and various campus activities and a video tour of the City of Troy.

“We also have included 360-degree tours of the campus’ residence halls and Greek facilities,” said Tiffani Stephens Schmidt, Director of Enrollment Services. “This page will remain live and will be used for our daily tours. In addition to the virtual tour options, we are offering ‘Coffee with Your Counselor’ where prospective students and their parents can have a virtual meeting via Facetime or WebEx to discuss the topics that are usually covered during their visit to campus.”

Other videos on the University’s Virtual Tour page offer prospective students a glimpse of campus life, as well as a tour of the City of Troy.

The virtual tour page can be accessed at https://www.troy.edu/applications-admissions/video-tour.html. The page also includes links that will enable students to receive more information or apply for enrollment. To contact an admissions counselor, email admit@troy.edu.

In addition, the University will hold a Virtual Open House on April 23, designed to assist prospective students in the areas of admissions and academic strategy for career development. During the event, expert advisers will be available to help prospective students decide on a major, and answer questions about financial aid or credit transfers.

Prospective students can learn more about TROY’s Virtual Open House or register for the event by visiting  https://www.troy.edu/openhouse/index.html.
