Troy University will salute veterans and members of the military during its Sept. 28 Military Appreciation football game at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Trojans will play host to Sun Belt Conference-foe Arkansas State, and kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
Troy University’s service to the military dates back to the 1950s, and the University’s commitment to serving the men and women of the United States military has continued to grow through the years through efforts such as TROY for Troops centers, which seek to meet the unique needs of service men and women and their dependents. The Military Appreciation Game has been an annual TROY tradition since 2000.
Prior to the game, uniformed members of the military will lead the TROY football team during Trojan Walk on Tailgate Terrace at 3 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy static displays honoring the military inside Veterans Memorial Stadium and outside the stadium near Tailgate Terrace.
Pre-game activities will include an enlistment ceremony to be held on the field, the pre-game show by the Sound of the South marching band, a flyover featuring T-6 Texan aircraft from Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. and military representation during the coin toss.
The game will also feature a special Salute to Military halftime show, including the “Walk of Heroes” during which military veterans and members will process across the field as their service song is performed by the Sound of the South.
Special in-game presentations will include a donation from Lockheed Martin to the University’s TROY for Troops Scholarship program and other special military recognitions.
Fans can do
their part to help area military and their families attend the game with the
purchase of Community Hero Tickets; Troy Athletics will match each ticket
purchased by fans.
Single-game Community Hero Tickets are available for just $8 each, and each
