WSFA V.P. and General Manager Bunting to address graduates at TROY’s Montgomery Campus on Dec. 15

More than 130 graduates are expected to take part in the fall commencement ceremony on the Montgomery Campus on Dec. 15.

Mark P. Bunting, Vice President and General Manager of WSFA in Montgomery, will deliver the keynote address to graduates at Troy University’s Montgomery Campus on Monday, Dec. 15 in the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts.

More than 130 graduates are expected to take part in the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Degrees to be conferred include 38 associate’s degrees, 47 bachelor’s degrees, 49 master’s degrees and two education specialists’ degrees.

Bunting has been at the helm of Montgomery’s number one television station since January 2017. In this current position, Bunting has overseen the construction and move of WSFA’s new studios on Dexter Ave, is responsible for having the old studios donated to Mercy House and developed a station philanthropy effort raising over $3 million dollars for those underserved and those impacted by severe weather.

Prior to joining WSFA, Bunting worked at WKRG TV in Mobile, first as General Sales Manager and later as Vice President and General Manager, a role he held for five years.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Bunting moved with his family to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands when he was five years old, where he grew up and attended the Good Hope School where his dad was the school’s principal.

Bunting attended Mobile’s Spring Hill College where met his wife, Melanie, on the second day of his freshman year and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications and met his wife, Melanie. He began his broadcast career in 1984 and has worked in sales and management positions for stations in Mobile, Denver, CO, and now, Montgomery.

He served two years as the Chairman of the Board for the Alabama Broadcasters Association, is former Past President of the board of directors for Child Protect, a board member for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, a board member of Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Returning Fundraising Co-Chair for the River Region United Way, a former Board member of The Friends of the Archives, a former board member of MABCA, and a former member of the Troy University Montgomery Campus Advisory Board.

Bunting and his wife have two children – Kelly and Geoffrey – and two grandsons, Graham and Lawrence.
