Blood Drive held in memory of Troy University student.

Troy University students rolled up their sleeves to give the “Gift of Life” in memory of the life a Troy University student on Tuesday.

The Minority Student Presidents Council played host to its inaugural Rashad McClaney Memorial blood drive.

The council hosts this blood drive every year but this is the first year they decided to dedicate it in honor of a student two years ago, Rashad McClaney, a student at Troy University who was killed the weekend of TROY’s homecoming.

The university worked with McClaney’s family to make the drive happen and plan to make it a permanent tribute.

“I was ecstatic,” says Rashad’s mother Venesia McClaney. “Because activities like this in my son’s memory actually keeps him keeps him alive and we are honored.”
