A call for racial harmony took the form of a Unity Walk through campus on Saturday at Troy University.
The event, put on by 101 Elite Men and the Student Government Association, was designed to bring Trojans from all backgrounds together.
Students walked from the John Lewis Hall to Trojan Arena. The starting location held special significance to the organizers.
“I think one of the most important accomplishments of John Lewis was him organizing walks and marches that really revolutionized the way that black people were viewed in America,” says Walk Organizer Jason Frye. “He really brought a lot of people together in his lifetime especially through the marches that he organized so I think that it’s really monumental. It’s a really great opportunity to start at John Lewis Hall.”
