Local residents looking to get the COVID-19 vaccine now have another option as Troy University will become a distribution point for the Moderna vaccine through a public COVID clinic on campus.
The vaccine will be distributed in the Student Health Center in the Trojan Center starting Thursday at 9:00 am.
Troy University received 2,000 doses of the vaccine of the Moderna vaccine to distribute to individuals who qualify under the state’s distribution guidelines. The guidelines can be found here.
Anyone who wishes to get the vaccine at TROY will need to visit http://covid.troy.edu to schedule an appointment.
However TROY is not planning on vaccinating students at this time unless the student qualifies medically.
“Unless they meet one of the criteria that’s laid out in this category with regards to a medical condition or something along those lines students are not eligible this time,” says Dean of Students Herb Reeves. “We have been told that we will place an order for another quantity of vaccine and as soon as they get beyond that and they open it up for others then we’ll begin vaccinating our students.”
