Troy University senior Sierra Champion uses her space in TROY’s IDEA Bank to help spread the word about SHORT the Squirrel, the cartoon mascot for a statewide literacy campaign in Alabama.
Troy University’s IDEA Bank located in the Small Business Development Center in downtown Troy offers student entrepreneurs a chance to develop their business ideas.
Champion has an office in the IDEA Bank that allows her to handle the day to day operations of the SHORT the Squirrel program.
It serves as an internship for the senior but it will turn into a full time job as she begins to pursue her Master’s degree.
“Two alumni from Troy University actually reached out to me in August of 2020 asking to help out in some sort of way and so I’m a senior in college and this is serving as an internship for me,” says Champion. “Recently we have brought SHORT the Squirrel to the IDEA Bank which is a student entrepreneurship program here at Troy University.”
