Troy University Trojan Football players took time away from their summer workouts to help Children’s Hospital patients on Wednesday.
The players filled the lobby of TROY’s Small Business Development Center to pack Short the Squirrel reading kits to send to the hospital.
Each kit contained the latest Short the Squirrel book “Short Gets Sick.”
“We’ve got the Troy University football team volunteering for this community service event for Short the Squirrel,” says Short the Squirrel Project Manager Sierra Champion. “They are assembling literacy kits for ‘Short Gets Sick’ that will actually be going to Children’s Hospital this Friday.”
The team helped put together over two thousand packets to go to Children’s Hospital. Trojan running back Kimani Vidal says he knows all of the hard work will help children who need it.
“”It’s something that’s great not just for children but children that are specifically in the hospital,” says Vidal. “They might need that boost of having that goody bag.”
