New radio play produced by TROY Theatre and Dance to debut on TROY Public Radio 4th of July weekend.

A radio play produced by Troy University‘s Department of Theatre and Dance will make its on-air debut this weekend on TROY Public Radio.

The play, which was recorded earlier this year, offered the department a way to produce a show during a time when audiences couldn’t pack out auditoriums due to COVID-19.

“Tinyard Hill” was written by TROY professor Tommy Newman and features a cast of Troy University students.

For TROY Public Radio, the play presented a new way to provide entertaining content to its listeners.

“Audio is really big right now,” says TROY Public Radio Operations Manager Kyle Gassiott. “It’s really hot and it’s so exciting to have this collaboration with TROY Theater. This is the first time that the radio station and the theater department are collaborating to do this and it’s such an amazing production to be our first. I think when people tune in and hear it you’re gonna get so much out of it.”
