The Trojan Soccer team started their season with its first win under new head coach Nicole Waters Friday night.
Troy defeated Nichols State 1-0 to open at the Trojan Soccer Complex to open their season.
Erin Bloomfield scored the only goal of the night on a penalty kick to secure the win in the 67th minute.
“My mind was just knowing that I’ve taken PKs all my life and just having full confidence in myself,” says Bloomfield about the winning kick. “I never step up to a PK without full confidence, so just believing in myself.”
For Waters it was her first win as head coach and said despite some early nerves the team did what they had to do to get win number one on the season.
“Feels fantastic,” says Waters. “I think all of the girls were a little nervous going into the game but at the end of the day we got the win and we got the shutout which was important to us.”
