TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Crowds were cheering and weights were clanking which filled the Troy Stadium Towers last Monday evening for Bench Out Breast Cancer.
The event was held by Troy Athletics and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to allow athletes to show off their lifting abilities and raise funds for further research and support for survivors.
“It’s just a really cheeky, fun way for athletes, students, and members of the Troy Community to come together and raise money for breast cancer research,” said SAAC President Kady Schwietz.
Schwietz also said the event is one way to bring communities together is by utilizing a common interest and turning it into something meaningful to support those who were diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I think it’s really awesome,” said Schwietz. “This is one of our best events where we get to do something fun and exciting and have everyone get involved, into the spirit and to have a pink explosion in the weight room.”
