Riddle Pace Field opens to fans; here’s what to expect

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — This baseball season, Troy University’s Riddle Pace Field will look different to fans.

Riddle Pace has been under major renovation for nine months and remains under construction. Despite ongoing renovations, baseball fans will be able to watch home games in the comfort of Riddle Pace.

“We’re very excited to be able to announce that we’ll be able to play ball this year inside Riddle Pace,” Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. “There are going to be a few different accommodations that need to be made but from concessions to concourse to PA to music to promotions, all the seats are in place already.”

According to Jones, the new facility will be an amazing opportunity for not only fans, but also players and coaches.

“Facilities matter,” Jones said. “People matter. Recruits, players matter. Buildings matter and what it looks like and so to be able to have the best stadium, it’s going to have the best stadium in the Sunbelt Conference, one of the best baseball stadiums in all of college baseball.”

Jones told TrojanVision parts of the Trojan game day experience will remain, however, there is one aspect of game day that will be different: seating.

“Fans will enter through gate one, which is down the first base side of the stadium. It’ll be one entrance point, one exit point. They’ll go up through our stairwell. Now, every single seat is chair-backed.”

As of mid-February, the stadium is not fully-finished. Additional construction is expected to be completed on the rotunda, the club coach’s office, and the press box.
