TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Earlier this week, Troy University welcomed new students during Odyssey Convocation.
Troy University welcomed freshman, first-time transfer students, and international students. Not only did students get a show courtesy of the Sound of the South, they also received a pep talk from Troy University’s Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. and former TROY alumnus Wesley Swanzy.
During the convocation, school leaders attempted to address any concerns from parents.
“I was really happy with it,” said parent April Dill. “It was exciting. I got to watch my daughter do the dance line. She’s been at band camp all week learning all of their routines. I thought the speakers were really good and motivational. I think it gave us a better feel for what to expect and like what she’s going to be going through. She’s already gotten involved in sorority and the dance line so she’s already on the right track.”
Students also got to participate in one of the first pep rallies of the season.
“It made me happy to be here,” said first-time transfer student Emma Thompson. “It was very informative and made me feel a little more comfortable. It’s a lot similar to my hometown environment. It feels so at home.”
Students will have more opportunities to get to know the campus. Troy University will be holding Welcome Week activities throughout the first two weeks of school. Those events aim to help students get better acquainted with their school.
