TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — TROY’s Welcome Week Committee brought back a fan favorite during Welcome Back Week: Silent Disco.
The event originally debuted during Fall Welcome Week, which according to the Vice President of Campus Affairs (VPCA), was such a hit the committee decided to bring it back.
“What better way to kick off the spring semester than with a really fun event where everybody can dance around and kind of get back into the groove of things,” said VPCA Betsy Bennett.
“The Trojan Center Ballroom was filled with students enjoying the music channel and dance moves of their choice.
“[There are] three different DJs going on right now, red, blue and green,” explained Welcome Week Director Derrick Nobles. “They’re all different songs. Some people doing line dances, some people just doing a random dance. You just see a lot of happiness all around.”
Thursday night’s Silent Disco is the second-to-last event planned for Welcome Back Week. With most of the festivities wrapped up, the committee is asking for student feedback.
“We’ve got a lot of positive feedback and, hopefully, we’re going to get even more,” Bennett told TrojanVision. “We’ve offered surveys to people that have been coming through to the events to kind of hear their feedback of what they are looking for in a welcome week.
This was the first year TROY held a Spring Welcome Back Week.
