Students reveal their favorite Black leaders

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Black History Month is an important celebration of African American culture and helps us remember important Black leaders.

The month-long celebration grants students time to reflect on their black history leaders’ histories. TrojanVision talked to students to learn who their favorite Black leaders are.

“I would say Dr. Marther King Jr,” said senior Qwien Mason.

Junior Charmaine Smith, another student said, “I feel like Germaine Cole, the rapper J Cole, is a leader.”

“I would say Jackie Robinson,” said junior Tralyn Ball. “What he did was give me the courage to step out and do things that I normally wouldn’t want to do.”

“You have to stand out from the crowd and just put your foot forward and do something different than what other people are doing,” Smith told TrojanVision.

“You also have to be adaptive because there’s some environments that you have to step out of your comfort zone,” said Mason.
