Student Government Association gives Spring Break safety tips

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — With Spring Break right around the corner, the Student Government Association (SGA) has partnered with Trojan Outreach and the Troy University Police Department (TUPD) for Spring Safety Week.

“During Safety Week, we want to provide students information about different safety precautions they can have especially with Spring Break being next week,” said Anna-Marie Fulton, a Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences.

To raise awareness about Safety Week, the SGA set up a table in the Trojan Center. Students were able to talk to TUPD officers and get cards with helpful resources.

“We have two things we are passing out,” Fulton said. “The first thing is a safety numbers card, it has all the important telephone numbers of the University Police Department. The other is a list of safety precautions that you can take throughout Spring Break from the Troy University Police Department.”

Some of the safety tips provided by TUPD include driving safe, not traveling alone, and limiting alcohol consumption. Students will be able to visit the Trojan Center table from 10-2 until Thursday.

“We’ll have a table on the quad and we’ll make sure they know other events other organizations are doing.”

The table on the John Robert Lewis Quad will be part of a Spring Break Send-Off event on Thursday.
