Stuempfig receives SBC Preseason Title

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — A Troy Volleyball player has gained preseason recognition ahead of the 2024 season.

The Sun Belt preseason setter of the year is none other than Troy’s Janelle Stuempfig. Stuempfig is the first Trojan to receive a preseason award for an individual since Troy joined the Sun Belt back in 2004,

“Honestly, I was just really honored,” Stuempfig said. “I did not expect this at all. This just really proves how good our team is going to be this year if the other coaches from the Sun Belt thinks that. I’m just really excited because I couldn’t have done this without my teammates for this upcoming year.”

Each year, Stuempfig has improved as a setter. Throughout her 2023 campaign, she recorded a team best in assists, resulting in her being named Second Team All Sunbelt for the postseason recognition from the conference.

Moving over to the 2024 season, Stuempfig says it’s important for the team to continue working together to accomplish new goals.

“We are just ready to see someone else on the other side of the court while focusing on our side and getting better,” Stuempfig said. “Since it’s still the beginning of the year, it’s a fresh start.”

As the Trojans move closer to their 2024 season’s home opener, Stuempfig is ready for the turnout.
