TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating two incidents that resulted in gunshots early Sunday morning.
According to the Troy Police Department (TPD), officers responded to a shots fired call at 12:12 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of U.S. 231, which is near the Circle K. When police arrived they found a large crowd of people in the area and several others trying to leave the scene.
Soon after, officers were dispatched to another large gathering in the 1000 block of Park Street. As officers worked to clear the scene, shots were fired. A car and a nearby residence were struck.
No injuries were reported during either incident, however, due to the proximity of Park Street to the university, an email was sent to all Troy University students instructing them to shelter-in-place. The shelter-in-place was sent out just after 1 a.m.
“Troy University Police responded to reports of gunfire off campus in the vicinity of Pell Avenue and Park Street at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Although there was no indication of a threat on campus, a shelter-in-place alert was sent to all Troy Campus students.

There were no injuries and there is no evidence of an ongoing threat to campus safety at this time. The shelter-in-place guidance is no longer in effect.
The incident remains under investigation by the City of Troy Police Department.
Both incidents are now under investigation. TPD has requested assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Troy University Police Department.
