Troy Football drops Sun Belt opener to ULM

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Saturday, the Trojans opened up Sun Belt conference play with a loss against the ULM Warhawks inside Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Warhawks played spoiler, shutting down the Troy offense as not a single Trojan found the end zone, which forced the Trojans to wrap up the game one point shy of double digits.

“Certainly not the result any of us want nor will we ever obviously accept,” said head coach Gerad Parker. “We’re looking at a football team right now that that is playing without its starter quarterback. That was pivotal in this game. We could not find any explosive plays.”

Despite the loss, Parker vowed to turn the program around.

“I’m still going to fight like hell for our staff and players to get this thing turned around we know the job ahead of us in five days and certainly this season and that will get done.”

Up next the Trojans take on Texas State in a mid-week battle Thursday inside Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
