Academic Excellence Week helps equip students for success

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is encouraging students amid midterms during its Academic Excellence Week.

The SGA hosted a week-long initiative aimed at tackling the stressors students face during midterms.

“It’s a week full of events that we have here on campus for Troy students to help them in their studies,” said Annsley Wallace, SGA member.

Academic Excellence Week aims to provide students with the resources they need to succeed and help alleviate some of the stress that comes with test-taking.

“Midterms can be a lot, school can be a lot, but we have these events hosted so that you can have a little study break,” Wallace said.

The week also serves as a way for SGA to stand by students.

“Community is very important, and having those study breaks and ways you can be helped by the student body is awesome,” Wallace said. “I’m really excited about it!”

Throughout the week, SGA held several events related to academic excellence. One of which was handing out free scantrons for students.

“It’s just to assist students throughout the week so they don’t have to go buy them themselves and to help them throughout this week because it can be stressful,” Wallace said. “This way, they don’t have to waste time or money going to get those resources.”

Some of the events that were part of Academic Excellence Week include:

  • Free scantron handout
  • Puppy Picnic
  • “Pop by the library”
  • Academic workshop

This is the first year SGA has had a full week of activities dedicated to academic excellence.
