TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — After sweeping Louisiana on Friday, Troy Volleyball hoped its momentum would carry over to Saturday. However, this was not to be.
The Trojans failed to extend their home winning streak to six, losing to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Saturday 3 sets to 2.
“You know we just couldn’t stick to a good rhythm tonight, and it cost us,” Head Coach Coach Josh Lauer said following the loss. “Kudos to Louisiana. I thought they got stronger as the match went on and really took advantage of our inability to play consistently.”
Troy won the first set. Louisiana then took the next two sets with the Trojans winning set four to force the tiebreaker. However, the Ragin’ Cajuns came out hot winning the final set 15-10 to take the game.

“We got behind so early and that’s killer in the fifth set,” Lauer said. “It’s hard to dig out of a hole when the game only goes to 15 points.”
Despite the loss, Tori Hester continued her impressive performance from Friday with 21 kills, extending her streak of double-digit kills to 40 which is the longest known active streak in D-I volleyball. Freshman Kalina Calvillo had a career day with 19 kills.
“Kalina took some really good habit swings and was a good spark for us all night long,” Lauer told TrojanVision.
The Trojans hope to rebound when they travel to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State Thursday night at 6 p.m.
