JCA welcomes artist Chintia Kirana for Artist Talk

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The Johnson Center for the Arts (JCA) is debuting a new exhibit called “In Time” by artist Chintia Kirana.

Last week, the JCA invited Kirana and Dr. Adam Rutkowski of University’s department of political science to discuss her art and her experience as a political refugee.

“It’s not math where there’s a formula and you have to get it correct,” Kirana said. “There’s more questions and exploration. My favorite thing about being an artist is being able to just have the freedom to explore.”

During presentation, Kirana described what it was like when she became a political refugee.

“I just can’t imagine what that like must have been like for her and her family,” said student Matthew Farish.

JCA staff members encourage Troy students and community members to stop by and see what the facility has to offer.

“Dip into culture and into art that’s unique,” JCA’s Rebekah Alexander said. “We are we’re free so I think it’s a great space to come if you’re a student or even any community member to gaze and observe art.”

Kirana ‘s exhibit will be on display at the Johnson Center for the Arts until Nov. 8.
