TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — After a hard-fought match Thursday night, Troy Soccer ended its season with a draw against Arkansas State.

“We get a shutout, but we don’t get a win, but we don’t get a loss,” said head coach Stuart Gore. “It’s not a win but it isn’t a loss.” 

Thursday night also marked the last game on the pitch for Trojan seniors, one of those seniors being Delaney Wells who will stay in Troy as an assistant coach. 

“We end with Delaney who came with me from my last school who I’ve coached for four years,” said Gore. “Delaney’s like a daughter to me and I’m so glad she’s going to become an assistant coach here.” 

Another Trojan set to become an assistant coach is Riley Rojahn who spent her entire collegiate career in Troy.

“Riley’s been through it all here,” said Gore. “We’re the fourth set of coaching staff that she’s had. I’m really happy that she’s going to come back and be on the coaching staff next year.” 

The Trojans’ 2024 campaign was certainly not an ideal one as the team faced many issues due to injuries. 

“Injuries upon injuries upon injuries,” said Gore. “If it happened to a team it happened to us. We’d get somebody fit and somebody else would go down and we’d get another person fit and two would go down.” 

Although the fall season is over, the Trojans will certainly not take the off-season for granted. 

“We’ve got to get technically better in the spring,” said Gore. “That’s going to be the biggest thing to work on.”
