New podcast aims to attract and inform nursing students

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy University’s nursing department has a new podcast called “The Rounds.”

The podcast will serve as a way to reach perspective students and spread more information about the profession of nursing.

“We wanted to really target our nursing students or students that are interested in nursing before they get to college,” said communications coordinator for the College of Health Sciences, Kait Nesbit.

The podcast will feature Nesbit and nursing student Brooke Moseley. It will also include guests who practice nursing in various capacities.

“I kind of was sitting with my co-host one day and was discussing it with my husband who is a nurse and just thought, this is a great setup,” Nesbit said. “He’s an expert in his field. This person sitting next to me is offering advice and asking questions I don’t even know the answers to or I don’t even understand the question fully.”

The podcast is meant to help people learn more about what it means to be a nursing student and how Troy’s program can help prepare them for the career that they are going into.

“We are going to be talking mostly about their experience as a nursing student but also how that transitions into their everyday practice and what they’re experiencing in their career and what opportunities they see in their career,” Nesbit explained.

A new episode of “The Rounds” will be available every month and can be found wherever you listen to podcasts.
