Trojan Soccer slides past Jacksonville University

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Sunday afternoon the Trojans welcomed Jacksonville University to the Troy Soccer Complex for a hard-fought match.

It was a close game, but Troy was able to win 2-1.

“I thought we were disciplined and that’s what I asked them to be, and the intensity was great,” said Soccer Head Coach Stuart Gore. “I even think the goal we gave up was y’know we just switched off a bit. All in all, I couldn’t be prouder.”

Jiselle Daniels scored a goal and set her season tally to seven as well as marking her fifth consecutive game with a goal, a feat that has not been done by a Trojan since Alissa Jones in 2008.

“When she gets the ball, you can tell the teams the hair on the back of their necks stands up, and she causes so many problems,” said Gore. “She works on and off the ball. It’s great. I’m definitely ready for her fifth year of eligibility keep Jiselle.”

According to Gore, the Trojans, who were coming off a 2-3 loss to North Alabama, looked to this game as a chance for redemption.

“I think we lost the game at North Alabama, I don’t think they won it,” said Gore. “We gave it away and then y’know to bounce back like we did against a team thats y’know gonna do very well in their conference and has already beaten Georgia Southern 4-1 at Georgia Southern in our conference who’s always a great team y’know it just shows great resilience from the girls.”

The Trojans are back on Sunday at the Troy Soccer Complex where they will play Mississippi Valley State.
