TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Peace Week was a week-long event dedicated to shing a light on two issues that affect millions of people around the world.
For some students the message was deeply personal.
“As someone who has struggled with that a little bit, I always encourage people that you should find someone to talk to find your happy place to just debrief your thoughts, and know that you are loved,” said student Aniah Brown. “There are people here that love you and that doing this won’t solve it. It will probably make it worse for everyone around you.”
It’s that same hope for healing and prevention that inspired the SGA to organize Peace Week: a week full of events; each day focusing on a different cause. Aniya said she greatly appreciates the Student Government Association and the work that it is doing.

“It makes me really happy that there is someone out there who is actually trying because a lot of people I know they are going through this, but I’m scared to try, so I’m glad there’s people who are willing to take the initiative to try and help someone.”
Jazmin Foster, A representative of TROY SGA says she feels good that she is making change.
“It makes me feel good that I am letting them know that they are not alone.”
According to event organizers, the goal is to empower everyone at TROY to a part of a culture of care and prevention.
