TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy men’s basketball took down the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana 78 to 59 in the Trojans’ penultimate matchup.
Although the game started tight with a halftime score of 27 to 23, Troy gapped the Ragin’ Cajuns 51 to 36 in the second half to take the much-needed victory. The Trojans also out-assisted and out-rebounded Louisiana, something head coach Scott Cross noticed throughout the game.
“We kept it simple,” Cross said. “Our guys made good decisions. Cooper had eight assists and one turnover, JB was amazing, 11 for 13 that’s hard to do at any level.
“Thomas had a great game, Cobi was playing great defensively for us, Austin and Kerrington gave us a lift coming off the bench, and Evan played good minutes in backup for JB. It was a great all-around game, but I just felt like we were connected like we had been in some of our great games earlier in the year and it was good to see.”

One player who dominated for the Trojans was senior Jerrell Bellamy who scored a season high 25 points against the Ragin’ Cajuns. One thing that motivated him in his performance was his teammates energy during the game.
“I really feed off my teammates,” Bellamy said. “They really just hype me up, they like when I dunk, they just tell me ‘Do something different,’ but I’m just getting above the rim, and they get hype for me so I appreciate them.”
Troy is now tied for first in the sunbelt with App State and Marshall.
