Southern Classic Foods announces expansion

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Southern Classic Foods, a division of Trillium Food Group, announced manufacturing growth and new jobs coming to the city of Brundidge Thursday morning.

Trillium Foods CEO Ash Reddy acquired the company through a partnership with Chuck Calloway, CEO of the organization. The two spoke at Brundidge City Hall, announcing new equipment and expanded production aimed at reaching more customers.

“Inside our building, we’ve added a manufacturing room to make new products,” Caraway said. “It’s an investment, it’s several hundred thousand dollars.”

Both Caraway and explained how the growth will impact the economy over the next year in Brundidge.

“We believe this project, in the first year, will create between 82 and 100 jobs here in Brundidge,” Caraway said. “We hope to grow it beyond that, but that’s what this first opportunity with expansion will entail.”

“For the community, I think it’s going to mean a substantial amount of money being reinvested in the site to become one of the larger ones in the country,” Reddy said.

According to Caraway, Southern Classic Foods currently has more than 300 active formulas and plans to keep expanding its product line

“We wouldn’t be investing twelve to fourteen million dollars if we weren’t invested in the future, more than doubling in the next two years,” Caraway said. “We’ll be making flavored syrups and wing sauces.

“You’ll be tasting products made in Brundidge in a lot of restaurants all across the country.”

Caraway said the company currently produces around 125 million pounds of food each year and expects that number to grow with the new manufacturing additions. Reddy also believes the expansion is expected to create more than two-hundred jobs in Brundidge over the next three to five years.
