TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. is now the latest inductee of the Alabama District Exchange Clubs Court of Honor.
Last Thursday, Downtown Troy’s American Legion Building was home to a special meeting from the Exchange Club of Troy during which Hawkins received the District Court of Honor.
Donna McLaney Jones, Director of Alabama’s District Six Exchange Club, talked about people who typically receive the honor.
“They’re known throughout the United States for all that they’ve contributed to this great country, this great state,” said Jones. “We have a lot of well known people on the list. We’re glad to add Dr. Hawkins as our recipient this year.”
Although Hawkins has never been a direct member of the Exchange Club, he has advocated for many things the club represents including leadership.

“It takes leaders to-strong leaders who stand on a rock that are considerate, listen to those who lead and recognize that it’s a privilege, Hawkins said. “When people entrust to you their hopes, aspirations and desires, that needs to be managed very carefully.”
Hawkins is no stranger to the exchange club, having previously spoken to its members club many times before.
“I have great respect for the Exchange Club. They’re one of the oldest if not the oldest civic clubs in America.
“They stand for all those things that I believe in, certainly at the core of that is love of country, so the exchange recognition is certainly greatly valued by me.”
As the Exchange Club prepares for its District Convention on June 13 in Troy, Jones encourages everyone to get involved in the Exchange Club and in the Troy Community.
“We support a lot of different groups here,” Jones told TrojanVision. “Save-a-life, our recreation, youth, the Child Advocacy Center here.
“We do a lot of good things here in the community.”
