TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Students new to town may now be more familiar with some of Troy’s off-campus activities thanks to the University Activities Council (UAC).

Students put a pin in their schoolwork Wednesday night to go bowling at Good Times with the University Activities Council.

Though they typically schedule on-campus events, this semester the UAC wants to branch out and introduce students to the rest of Troy.

“Obviously, the campus is beautiful,” said Anna Marie Penhollow, Student Life and Engagement Coordinator. “There’s a lot of activities and different uh organizations they can get involved with Troy as a whole, it’s beautiful.

“There’s a lot of things to do. We just want to make sure that the students step out.”

Freshman Hayze Watson said that after being introduced to Good Times, he won’t hesitate to return.

“It’s going great. The staff here is lovely. They’re super welcoming. Great place. I’ve never been here, but I’ll definitely come back.”

The UAC says it is also prioritizing students wants this semester.

“I like to like hear what the students want, too,” said Penhollow. “We do a lot of feedback.”

Students said they’re glad to have their voices heard and to have the opportunity to get away from the stress of school.

“It makes college not be so boring,” said Kayla Williams, sophomore. “I would hate to go to a school and it’s just school, like just classes and work and get stressed out.”

Classwork wasn’t the only thing students were taking a break from.

Watson said it was a great chance to take a break from the new responsibilities of life on his own.

“I think it definitely gives us like a little break because we’re all figuring out how to kind of like live on our own, do all the the life things. So, it just gives us a little chill and just have some fun.”

Students also enjoyed free pizza and drinks all night. A nice break from the financial burdens that college can bring.
